Most of us enjoy a little bit of music when we commute to work, weekend cruises or simply just going down the block to pick up some milk. While some of us are able to use earbuds (which is illegal in some States), most of us can’t because there’s simply not enough space to wear earbuds and not crush our ears when we put the helmet on.

The alternative is to use helmet speakers. Since there are so many helmet speakers to choose from nowadays, here are our top 3 helmet speakers. The IASUS Concepts XSound 3 helmet speaker, IASUS Concepts XSound 2.1 helmet speaker and the Cardo JBL helmet speaker.

With all the different helmets and safety requirements, there is little to no space in most helmets for ANY kind of helmet speaker. Even when there are speaker cut outs in the helmet foam, they may not be aligned directly on your ear. Helmet speaker MUST be installed directly on top of your ear canal (ear holeeee) to sound good. Check to see if you need to modify the foam so you can install the speaker properly and directly aligned to your ear. If you don’t do this, you’re going to be disappointed with all helmet speakers.

#1  IASUS XSound 3 High Definition Helmet Speaker

Enhance your helmet audio experience with ultra rich, high definition audio. The XSound 3 helmet speaker delivers full range clarity with solid clean bass and crisp highs, rivaling some of the best full sized headphones. Audio volumes can reach as high as 100dBs when properly installed.

The XSound 3 kit includes high quality 3M velcro stickers that will keep your speakers stay in place in your helmet. There are also foam spacers and speaker covers to perfectly align the speaker as close as possible to your ears for the ultimate audio clarity and volume.

Pros

  • 45mm audio drivers
  • Superior sound quality. IASUS’ claim that the speakers have high definition audio is unreal and must be experienced to understand.
  • Volume is loud. Its full range audio output sounds a little bit louder than the stock Sena speakers (explained in the above content).
  • Fit any device with a 3.5mm audio jack.
  • Aluminum chassis makes the speakers feel very premium.
  • A LOT of accessories in the box. Includes something IASUS calls an ear unfolding tab keychain. I personally ALWAYS have folded ears, this is actually useful and shows how detailed IASUS is for including the ear tab with the speakers.
  • Velcro stickers are VERY sticky.
  • Includes 4 foam spacers to help with fitment.

Cons

  • May require cutting of foam around the speaker cut outs in your helmet for optimal fitment.
  • Speakers need to be aligned to your ears and even touching for the best volume.
  • Not Bluetooth but you can plug into comms to make them Bluetooth like the IASUS Rekon, Sena 20s, Cardo Packtalk and more (any device with a 3.5mm audio jack)

#2  IASUS XSound 2.1 Helmet Speaker

The XSound 2.1 Helmet Speaker’s steel chassis provides exceptional bass response and full-range output. The speakers have been tested to have over 98dB volume levels (with proper install inside the helmet) which is at the threshold of damaging your ears if exposed to max volume for a duration of time (not recommended by IASUS).

The XSound 2.1 includes high quality 3M velcro stickers that will keep your speakers stay in place in your helmet. Align the speaker correctly and experience the ultimate audio clarity and volume.

Pros

  • 40mm audio drivers.
  • Volume is loud with great bass. A little bit louder than the stock Sena speakers (explained in the above content).
  • Audio quality is amazing! Very close to the IASUS XSound 3 helmet speakers.
  • Includes sticky 3m velcro stickers.
  • Fits any device with a 3.5mm audio plug.

Cons

  • May require cutting of foam around the speaker cut outs in your helmet for optimal fitment.
  • Speakers need to be aligned to your ears and even touching for the best volume.
  • A bit thicker (1cm) than other speakers.
  • Not Bluetooth but you can plug into comms to make them Bluetooth like the IASUS Rekon, Sena 20s, Cardo Packtalk and more (any device with a 3.5mm audio jack)

#3  Cardo JBL Helmet Speaker

Owners of Cardo FREECOM and PACKTALK series will enjoy extra boost with new JBL sound processor and firmware.

Standard 3. 5mm jack, these speakers fit practically any communicator on the market, no matter what brand.

Not a FREECOM or PACKTALK owner? No worries: this powerful hardware will still drive your headset audio performance to new heights.

Pros

  • 45mm audio drivers
  • Volume is loud.
  • Includes velcro stickers.
  • Fits any device with a 3.5mm audio plug.

Cons

  • May require cutting of foam around the speaker cut outs in your helmet for optimal fitment.
  • Speakers sound much like the original Cardo speakers unless you have the equalizer from the app.
  • Require Cardo headset & Cardo app to access its JBL audio profiles
  • Speakers need to be aligned to your ears and even touching for the best volume.
  • Not Bluetooth but you can plug into comms to make them Bluetooth like the IASUS Rekon, Sena 20s, Cardo Packtalk and more (any device with a 3.5mm audio jack)
